Foreigners who request residency permits after the end of their visa validity period, after they have arrived in Turkey, or those foreigners whose residency permit validity period is about to expire, are required to apply to the Foreigners Division before their visa / residency permit expires.

6. Applications of foreigners whose visa has expired are not accepted.
7. Only one residency permit for touristic purposes is issued during any one calendar year.
8. Foreigners must apply in person for residency procedures.

6. For those applying for a residency permit for the purposes of education for the first time, the Educational Visa obtained from the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in the foreigner’s country.
7. Bank account document which shows 500 $ per month (this is determined by the Ministry) or Money Exchange Document of the same amount and a notary ratified undertaking of the family looking after him/her or Scholarship Document if granted.
8. For University students, “Student Information Form For Foreign Students” which shall be ratified by University Authorities.

3. Original passport.

5.For Turkish citizen spouses, 4 x photographs for first application and 2 x photographs for extention of the period.
6. Both spouses are required to be present for the residency application procedures.
7. An official letter showing the situation of those whose Turkish citizen spouse is in prison, in hospital or in the army.
8. The Turkish citizen spouse is required to provide their identity card.
9. In first time applications, it is required that the marriage certificate original and photocopy, if this is not in Turkish, then the notary ratified translation is required to be brought.

6. The child Turkish citizen is required to provide his /her identity card.
7. In first time applications, the child’s birth certificate is required; if it is in a foreign language, then the notary ratified translation is required.
8. In first time applications, if the child was born in Turkey, then the birth certificate issued by the Census Registration Directorate is required.
9. In case of any last name/surname difference between the child and parents, a document proving this difference, if this is not in Turkish, then the notary ratified translation is required to be brought.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE ACCOMPANIMENT OF A PARENT WHO IS A TURKISH CITIZEN.

3. Original passport.
4. Photocopy of the passport (photo page, page showing the last entry to Turkey, page showing passport validity period).
5. In first time applications, the child’s birth certificate is required; if it is in a foreign language, then the notary ratified translation is required.
6. The identity cards of the parents are required to be provided.
7. The person who will accompany the Turkish citizen parent must be below 18 years of age.
8. In first time applications;
- if the parents are divorced, the guardianship decision of the court;
- if the parents are separated, the certificate of consent of the other parent;
- if one of the parents is dead, the certificate of death;
- if one of the parents is absent, the absence certificate issued by the court;
- the notary ratified undertaking of the mother and father.
9. The child is required to be present during the proceedings.
10. In case of any last name/surname difference between child and parents, a document proving this difference, if this is not in Turkish, then the notary ratified translation is required to be brought.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE ACCOMPANIMENT OF A PARENT WHO IS RESIDENT.

5. The originals of the parents’ residency permits, and the photocopies of all pages which have been used.
6. In first time applications, the child’s birth certificate is required; if it is in a foreign language, then the notary ratified translation is required.
7. The person who will accompany the resident parents must be below 18 years of age. In first time applications;
- if the parents are divorced, the guardianship decision of the court;
- if the parents are separated, the certificate of consent of the other parent;
- if one of the parents is dead, the certificate of death;
- if one of the parents is absent, the absence certificate issued by the court;
- the notary ratified undertaking of the mother and father.

8. The notary ratified original of the company’s trade registration gazette.
9. The notary ratified original of the company’s signatory circular letter.
10. A residency permit for the purposes of business meetings and installations is prepared once every calendar year.

6. A document that shows the period of training, position, and all living expenditures which shall be covered by the institution / organisation where the training is to take place and undertakes that he/she shall leave Turkey at the end of his/her training period (on headed paper).
7. Students invited to train as part of the exchange programme between universities will be required to provide the letter of invitation.
8. If a person is to make an application through a representative, the original notary ratified power of attorney and the photocopy of the identification document of the representative.

5. A committee report from the organisation where treatment is taking place, ratified by the provincial health directorate.
6. Relatives to the first-degree of the foreigner who is to be treated (mother-father-spouse-children) may obtain a residency permit to accompany the patient. (Of the companions, the spouse is required to provide a notary ratified marriage certificate, and the parents and the children birth certificates). Should the documents not be in Turkish, a notary ratified translation is required.
7. In case of any last name/surname difference between the child and parents, a document proving this difference, if this is not in Turkish, then the notary ratified translation is required to be brought.

5. Those who wish to obtain a residency permit for the purposes of defection are required to apply to the Head of the Migration, Asylum and Citizenship Bureau of our Foreigners Division.

6. For those applying to obtain a new residency permit because they have lost the current one, they are required to bring an official Lost Property Report from the District Police Department or Gendarmerie Station.

3. The original residency permit for the person whose residency period is to be shortened, and photocopies off all pages which have been used.
4. For the shortening of the residency period for educational purposes, the person is required to bring a letter from the educational establishment where he / she is studying.
5. For the shortening of the residency period for work purposes, once a letter has been received cancelling the permission to work from the Ministry of Work and Social Security, by our Division, the residency will be cancelled.
6. Authorised company representatives for relevant companies, are required to inform the Foreigners Division of the Provincial Police Department within 15 days after a foreigner has ceased to work for their company.
7. The foreigner and the authorised company representative for the relevant company are required to apply to our Directorate together for a shortening of the residency period.

Foreigners who have taken part in the examinations which are held every year in April in the city of Ankara, and who have been successful, will be given residency permits until 30th of September in order to register with a university, on providing the certificate showing they were successful in the foreign student examination.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR CHANGES IN MARITAL STATUS

5. The original and photocopy of Turkish Citizen spouse’s identity card.

7. 2 x Amendment to Identification Information Forms. Changes in marital status are required to be notified within 15 days.
8. If both spouses are foreign nationals, then the original and photocopy of the notary ratified translation of the marriage certificate.
9. If the foreigner has divorced his / her spouse, then the original and photocopy of the notary ratified translation of the court decree.
10. In the event of death of one of the foreign spouses, the original and photocopy of the notary ratified translation of the death certificate.
11. Those who do not notify of the change in marital status within the required time limit will be fined.

7. Those who do not notify the changes in residential address within the required time limit will be fined.

THOSE OBTAINING RESIDENCY BY ORDER OF THE MINISTRY

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE PURPOSES OF OBTAINING A RESIDENCY PERMIT IN ORDER TO GET A WORK PERMIT

10. The foreign national is required to apply in person, together with an authorised representative of the company whose signature is present on the signatory circular letter.
ANNOUNCEMENT : DATED 09.03.2009
Our letter dated 28.01.2009, and numbered 056213 has asked our General Directorate of Turkish National Police, in respect of Tour Operator representatives’ residency permits for the new season, for tour operator representatives who are citizens of Brazil, Estonia, Latvia, Croatia, Montenegro, Moldovia, Romania, Venezuela and Ukraine, whether these tour operator representatives would need to obtain valid visas from our foreign representatiıons before arriving in Turkey. However, as we have yet to receive a response, we will continue to apply the same procedures as in 2008. Should we receive a response, any changes will be announced separately.
For those foreigners who will work as tour operator representatives, the relevant tour operators are required to make applications as soon as possible. The responsibility for any foreign tour operator representative who is working without a valid permission rests with the tour operators themselves. Any tour operator that is found to not abide by this procedure twice, will not be issued any further residency permits for further tour operator representatives in this respect.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR TOUR OPERATOR APPLICATIONS
1. The notary ratified translation of the letter addressed to the agency in Turkey from the overseas tour operator.
2. The certificate of activity, signatory circular letter, and certificate of signatory authorisation for the overseas tour operator.
3. The letter from the agency in Turkey addressed to the Foreigners Division.
4. TURSAB certificate.
5. Tourism Operations certificate.
6. The photocopy of the certificate of authority and identity card of the authorised representative of the travel agent in Turkey (the certificate of authority ratified by the notary for the purposes of carrying out all procedures at the Foreigners Division of the Provincial Police Department on behalf of the foreign tour operator representative, other than the collection of the residency permit).
